HK416, originally produced in Germany, was developed by Heckler & Koch (often abbreviated as H&K or HK) and is also produced in the United States. The purpose of the development of the HK 416 is to provide a weapon with superior performance than the long-serving M16 assault rifle. It uses a short-stroke air-guided automatic method, instead of using a direct air drive system like the M16 series. The gun made major improvements to the basic design of the M16, replacing the integrated alloy front bracket with a two-part polymer front bracket, and using a floating barrel. Equipped with a foldable mechanical sight, because the standard configuration is to use optical and night vision sighting equipment.
